The Microsoft adCenter Blog announced on Friday that they will now be displaying a fourth paid advertisement above the organic results. They say that they’ve made the change in response to feedback from advertisers asking for more clicks. From previous conversations with account reps, they told me that almost all of the clicks received on MSN or Live.com came from those top sponsored results - I believe the number was 90% or more.
This is good news for advertisers as it should increase volume for them and create some additional room to grow. I’d assume this is bad news for users, but then again, if they’re actually using Live.com as their search engine, this change probably won’t get them to switch to another.
